I´m now in Huaraz and will be leaving tonight. The reason I haven´t posted in a few days is because I was in a little mountain town called Vicos. There was little running water and so no internet. Most people spoke only Quechua or Spanish so my speaking skills are improving everyday, which is really exciting! I´ve been eating potatoes for every meal and luckily I haven´t gotten sick...yet. Most people in my group have gotten a flu thing which I´m trying really hard to avoid. Tonight we head to the jungle. I´m excited because the longer I sit here in Huaraz the more homesick I get. I miss you all and hope that all is well. If you want to look it up the name of the town I´m going to is Puerto Maldonado. Oh, let me share a magical moment with you. While the rest of my group hiked to the top of the largest mountain I´ve every seen, I stayed behind and gazed at the Andes while my babysitter, Manuel, played his flute for me. Now, please go listen to ¨Come Fly With Me¨by Frank Sinatra for me so you know what I´m talking about.

Hola Ariel!
It all sounds very exciting! So what's up with you and Manuel?? Ha, ha. Glad to hear that you haven't gotten sick. That would really suck! How are the potatoes? Are you missing Fujiyama right now? All is well here, just enjoying hot water, internet, and meat! Ok, sorry, that was really insensitive of me. I'm so thrilled for you that you are doing this! I wish I would have done something like that! Still could, who knows...
Anyway, glad that you are having a good time, utilizing your Spanish skills, and I am enjoying the blog.
Miss you,
L squared
I cannot believe you require a babysitter.
Moving on, it sounds like you are having an amazing time, I am sooo happy for you! Please don't forget to enjoy where you are, it is good to be a little homesick because then you will come back to me, but focus on all of the unique, beautiful things that are around you now so that you can soak it all in and bring it back! Home will always be here for you, but your trip to Peru is a once in a lifetime thing!
Which by the way reminds me to tell you to keep pushing yourself...you remember your goal we talked about in the car on the way back from the grocery store??? Don't be afraid to face your fears missy, even if it is tempting to sit beside manuel listening to his melodious tunes. :)
I love you and miss you a lot, but it makes me feel better that you are having such a great time and experiencing something that you have looked forward to and talked about for pretty much the last year.
You are the best, I can't wait to hear all of the details in 2 1/2 weeks!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE
Jacq
